Tonight was La Maison’s first annual pumpkin carving contest. There were three categories: funniest, scariest, and most French. We worked in pairs, and I was part of team Awesome along with Anna. Turns out we’re pretty darn talented (if I do say so myself) because we won for scariest!

Aaron and I haven’t thought much about what the cake will look like. We do know the flavor –banana cake– and that it will be sitting on a wooden cake stand, made from a cross-section of a tree. I love this bird cake by Lisa Lefkowitz:
